Jean Urish

June 24, 1922 - June 16, 2022

Jean E. Urish of Midwest City, OK completed her earthly journey on June 16, 2022, 8 days before her 100th birthday.
Jean was born on June 24, 1922, in Carbondale, KS to Archie and Anna Little. She graduated from Carbondale High School in 1940. She then trained in the cosmetology field in her aunt's beauty shop. On September 11, 1942, she married Eugene Urish in Osage City, KS, this union lasting almost 70 years ending upon his death on August 1, 2012. Upon arriving home from their honeymoon, Eugene was drafted into the Army Air Force. Jean then followed Eugene to various locations in the US as he completed his training. She returned to Topeka, KS to work while Eugene was stationed in England during World War II. Jean and Eugene made their home in Topeka upon his discharge from the service to raise their two children, Larry and Cheryl. In 1961, the family moved to Mobile, AL for Eugene's job. After four years in Mobile, Eugene was then transferred to Midwest City, OK.
Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was always involved in her children’s activities. She loved to cook and there was always a dessert and cookies in the kitchen. She and Eugene spent many years cooking for Mobile Meals through their church, First Presbyterian Church of Midwest City in their retirement years. They enjoyed traveling, especially bus trips, in their retirement, visiting every state except Alaska. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting, making many baby blankets and booties. Jean was a friend to many and was always willing to give a helping hand.
Jean loved her family dearly and is survived by her son, Larry Urish; daughter, Cheryl McCabe and husband, Michael; grandson, Sean McCabe and wife, Amanda, and their children Case, Evelynn and Brooks; granddaughter, Larissa Smith and husband, Scott, and their sons, Nolan and Garrett.
Her husband, Eugene; her parents, Archie and Anna Little; her siblings, Francis Little, Archie Little, Katherine Karnes and Leon Little; daughter-in-law, Ellen Urish and granddaughter, Patti Alvord, preceded Jean in death.
