Lucille Thomasson

December 18, 1940 - May 3, 2019

Gladys Lucille Thomasson age 78, of Oklahoma City, passed away Friday, May 3, 2019 at Meadowlake Estates in South OKC. Lucille was born December 18, 1940, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She was the oldest child of five, born to Smith Turner Thomasson and Ruth Eloise (Liggett) Thomasson. As a child, Lucille and her family lived in Wyoming and Oregon. Then in 1947, they moved to Meeker, OK. When she was in the 7th grade they moved to Midwest City, and there she attended school until she graduated with the class of 1958.
As a young girl, Lucille learned how to work hard. By the age of 12 she was doing the work of an adult by helping raise her four younger siblings. After high school she attended Mercy School of Nursing in Oklahoma City. There she received her RN degree and soon began a lifelong career in Nursing. Throughout her life she worked for various hospitals including Midwest City Hospital and Presbyterian Hospital in OKC. She retired after 35 years of dedicated service and caring for others.
Lucille was a Christian and had attended a Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed writing poetry, drawing and spending time with her siblings, nieces and nephews. Because of her failing health she has lived for the past 13 years at Meadowlake Estates in south OKC. There she has made countless friendships with fellow residents and staff members. She will be greatly missed by her siblings and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by:
Parents, Smith and Ruth Thomasson,
One sister, Mary Thomasson,
One brother, William Lee "Tom" Thomasson.
She is survived by:
Two brothers, John Thomasson of Charlottesville, VA
W. Thomasson and wife Elaine of Newcastle, OK.
14 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Also a host of lifelong friends.
Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 8th, 2019 at Arlington Memory Gardens-Mausoleum Chapel. 3400 N. Midwest Blvd, OKC, OK. Visitation will be all day Tuesday, May 7, at Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Newcastle.
