Ella Josephine Sweet

Ella Josephine, our beloved mother, age 85 of Oklahoma City joined her precious Savior January 17, 2006 at Midwest Regional Hospital. She was born May 23, 1920 to James Oscar and Naomi Lillian (Rogers) Smith at Tahlequah, OK. Ella Jo graduated valedictorian from her high-school in 1938. She was a member of Dickson Baptist Church since 1971 and served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She also served on a ministry team to Grace Rescue Mission. She retired from the Oklahoma State Department of Health and Human Services in 1986. Ella Jo is survived by one son: James T. Sweet of OKC; three daughters: Patricia Philliber and husband Wayne of Moore, Rita Aguilera and partner Dennis Gensman of Moore, and Rebecca Viney and husband Donald of Pittsburg, KS.; also ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; one brother, Stanley Smith, of Iowa; one sister, Jean Dunlap, of Muskogee, OK; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Norma and Oliver Sweet, and many other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, James Lindon Smith, two husbands, Elmo C. Poff, and Thomas Eugene Sweet. Funeral services will be at Dickson Baptist Church at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 21, 2006 with burial at Arlington Memory Gardens under the direction of Bill Eisenhour NE Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Dickson Baptist Church, 2000 N. Spencer Road, Oklahoma City, OK 73141.
