May 19, 2020

Clair LaVerne Seglem passed away May 2020 in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Because of COVID-19, he recently celebrated his 90th birthday with family on Zoom! Clair was born and raised in Towanda, Kansas with his sister Carol Virginia. His parents, Carl Harold Seglem and Coyla Seglem, taught him farm living and supported his education and future successes at Kansas State University and in the United States Air Force. While at KSU, he met and married Betty Sue Hoskins. They were married for 65 and 1/2 years and have four daughters, four sons-in-laws, 7 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Clair served in the United States Air Force for 20 years and they lived all over the world including Germany, Turkey, Okinawa, California, Vietnam and he retired at Tinker Air Force Base. Clair and Betty made many friends and still stay in touch with some of these friends today.
Clair was a long-time member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church and was active in many ways. He passed his strong faith in Jesus to his family and was often helping those in need. He was also an avid gardener and artist. He loved being outdoors working in the garden or riding his lawnmower and spending time at his farm in Kansas.
Clair is survived by his wife, Betty; daughters Sally Benn (Chuck), Sandy Chappell (Burt), Susie Larsen (Aaron) and Sara Hocking (Joe); grandchildren Candice Jackson (Kyle), Ryan Benn (Robbyn), Callie Chappell, Chelsea Larsen, Adam Larsen, Ellie Hocking and Ian Hocking; great grandchildren Alexis Benn, Logan Jackson, Mason Benn and Allyson Clair Benn.
