Corene B. Scruggs

August 11, 1938 - June 3, 2020

Corene Beulah Scruggs, 81, passed away June 3, 2020. She was born August 11, 1938, in Rush Springs, Oklahoma to John and Oleta Kerr Beckman.

She grew up in Texas. When she was 16, the family moved back to Rush Springs. She married Cecil Joy Brooks in 1955 and he passed away in 1960. She lost her first child Glenda Joy, then had Cathy Nell Brooks in 1957. While playing shuffleboard, she met Donnie Scruggs and married him June 30, 1961. She moved to Stillwater, then after school they moved the family to Midwest City in 1963. They bought their family home in December 1964. She had her son Karl Sheldon Scruggs on August 23, 1969, then another son Gregory Don Scruggs August 12, 1973.

Corene worked for Mid-Del Schools for 15+ years, working with special education students. She loved working with under privileged children. Her number one love in life was family, kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, siblings, and DOGS. Especially her ZOEY. Two other things she enjoyed in life was COCA-COLA and gossiping with her sisters.

She is survived by her husband Donnie Joe Scruggs of Midwest City, OK, daughter, Catherine Nell Brooks of Canon City, CO, son and wife Karl and Chynna Scruggs of Moore, OK, son, Gregory Don Scruggs of Oklahoma City, one brother Robert Edward Beckman (Bud), of Rush Springs, OK, sister and husband Shirley and Truett Shirley, of Rush Springs, OK, sister and husband Faye and Dub Smelley of Rush Springs, six grandkids and nine great-grandkids.
