Stephen Todd Owens
July 8, 1969 - May 5, 2010
Stephen Todd Owens, 40, departed this world and went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 5, 2010 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Steve was born on July 8, 1969 in San Antonio, Texas and grew up in Oklahoma City. He attended Putnam City North High School and graduated in 1987. He graduated from Mid-America Bible College with a BS in Criminal Justice in 2002. He was a member of the Army Reserve for six years and became a Midwest City Police Officer in 1991. Steve faithfully served Midwest City for 19 years, attaining the rank of Lieutenant, before retiring in March of 2010. Steve loved his family and his church, Soldier Creek Baptist. He served as Youth Minister and performed in the church band, Called to Serve. He enjoyed writing songs and playing the guitar. Steve is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Lucas and Hazel Boykin; paternal grandparents, Willie and Lillie Mae Owens; and two infant brothers, Rodney Kirk Owens and Mark David Owens. He is survived by parents, Joe and Lucy Owens; sister, Melanie Duff and husband Jeff; wife Lori Owens; six children: Matt, Nick, Jacy, Abby, Garrett and Baylee; mother-in-law, Carol Niles and husband John; father-in-law, Brian Day; brother-in-law, Erik Day and wife Sabrina; sister-in-law, Rachel Mack and husband Mark along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Steve also leaves behind his church family and MWC police officers, firemen and paramedics, all of whom the Owens family wish to thank for their prayers and many acts of support during Steve's illness. The family also wished to thank Hospice Quality Care for the exceptional care they provided. Family will receive friends from 3-5 pm, Saturday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Monday, May 10th at Soldier Creek Baptist Church in Midwest City. Interment will follow at Arlington Memory Gardens.
