Helen Louise Opat

February 23, 1925 - December 5, 2012

OPAT Helen Louise, 87 of Nicoma Park went to be with our Lord on Dec. 5, 2012. She was born Feb. 23, 1925 in Lincoln Township, KS to Frank and Anna Giefer. She married Andrew Patrick Opat on January 11, 1947 in Southmound, KS and they enjoyed 52 wonderful years together. She was a founding member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and was selected State Catholic Daughter of the Year in 1964. Helen was famous for her Cinnamon Rolls and homemade breads. She enjoyed baking with her friends and family and going to Daily Mass. She loved her family, church and friends dearly. She is survived by her children; Deborah and James Shonts, Richard Opat, Victoria and Allen Mounce, Renata and Lonnie Coble and Janette and Ron Schwarz. Her loving grandchildren; Melissa Shonts, Tom and Thomas McGrath, Jimmy,Lisa, Kailey and Emma Shonts, Rick Opat and Darlene Pryor, Jenny, Brad, Wyatt and Gracie Brand, Christa Opat, Bryan Opat, Matthew Mounce, Tara, Mark and Adam McCreary, Casey and Amber Coble, Tyler, Ryan and Madalyn Coble, Luis and Jenna Garcia and Kristin Schwarz. She is also survived by her loving sister Anna Chambers, brothers, Bob, Joe and Jim Giefer and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved. She is preceded in death by her husband Andrew, her parents, 5 sisters, 2 brothers, twin sons and great granddaughter Sydney Coble. Holy Rosary and Wake will be held at the church at 4:00PM Dec. 9th. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, Harrah, OK 10:00AM Dec. 10th with internment at Arlington Memory Gardens.
