Raymond Alfred Mussatto
April 18, 1927 - February 4, 2010
Raymond Alfred Mussatto was born on April 18, 1927 in Lexington, MO to Joseph and Tersilla Rose (Baretta) Mussatto. Ray was a loving husband, father, grandfather, devout Catholic, and dedicated member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, where he helped with the work of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and delivered Mobile Meals. He was also a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus, a great honor for him and a source of many loyal friends. A true business man, Ray worked for Montgomery Ward for over 40 years, 33 of which were in a management position. He retired as a District Manager in 1981. After a short retirement, he opened Midwest Farm and Home Supply (now Pet Vet Supply) in 1983 where he worked up until his death. He was an avid baseball fan who in his 'hay day' played for the minor league baseball team, the Topeka Owls. He and his grandsons, Jared and Joe, took several 'Field of Dreams' baseball tours, traveling across the United States to watch MLB games. He also enjoyed collecting antiques, fishing, hunting, raising chickens, and painting. He loved to tell stories about his childhood and his many experiences at Ward's, and he leaves his family with many cherished memories. Ray is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy, and his brother, Charles. He is survived by his brother, Joe Mussatto, sister, Delores Fischer, children, Deborah Motl, Tony Mussatto, Craig Mussatto, and Ted Sloan, grandchildren Justin, Courtney, and Jared Motl, Emily, Joe, Ryan, and Macalah Mussatto, Aubry Anne and Stacy Sloan, and Rebecca Sloan-Silk, and great-grandchildren Lane Whitesell, and Bryce Silk. A prayer vigil will be held at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church at 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening, and a Funeral Mass will be at the church on Monday at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Arlington Memory Gardens. Donations in Ray's honor can be made to the Center of Family Love in Okarche.
