Robert "Bob" Murray

MURRAY Robert "Bob" returned to heaven to prepare the way for his loved ones July 1, 1999 due to complications from a sudden illness. He was born May 7, 1933 in Friend, Nebraska, to Alva Napeoleon and Grace Aileen Gibson Murray. He grew up on a farm in this small country town with his two brothers and four sisters. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950 becoming a welder in the Vehicle Repair Squadron. Shortly afterwards, he requested reassignment to the Hospital Squadron as anaeromedical technician. This was the highlight of his military career. He served his country for 22 years, including during the Korean and Vietnam wars where he flew air rescue missions. Retiring in 1972, he settled in Midwest City. Embarking on a newca reer, he chose heating and air conditioning. He was employed by Sears working as a service technician for 10 years, retiring in 1984. Fulfilling every man's dream, he became self-employed in 1985, owning and operating Mid-Del Appliance Repair on 15thStreet in Midwest City, finally retiring for good in 1997, as he longed for lazy days spent fishing in Lake Eufaula and relaxing at his cabin. Besides fishing, Bob loved to go boating, bowling, hunting, and was always tinkering with something broken, ofcou rse, always repairing it in the end. Each year, he would head out to Gore, Oklahoma with his best buddies, Gene and Mike, deer hunting. No matter what the outcome of the trip was, the adventure was always worthwhile, as good friends are hard to comeby.Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two older brothers, Burt and Bill; an older sister, Betty Steffensen; an infant brother, Lyle; and a grandson, Jason Dunn. He is survived by his three sisters, Donna Murray of Wichita, Kansas, Edna Ulshafer of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Judy and her husband, Dwayne "Red" Sutton of Columbus, Nebraska. He is also survived by his wife of 45 years, Joan Monson Murray; his son, Alva Kirk Murray of Midwest City, along with his children, Ben and Melaina; and three daughters, Bambie Lynn McNabb, her husband, Michael, and their children, Jared, Logan, Nicholas, Emily, Bethany, Hannah, Cole, Tanner and Spencer of Salt Lake City, Utah; Mischelle "Shelley" Aileen Lippe, her husband, Michael, and their children, Christopher, Amber, Dylan and Wyatt of Midwest City; and Tina Christine Hanks, her husband, Jack, and their children, Brittany, Dustin and Lauren; and three great-grandchildren, Oscar, Brayden and Hayley. In addition, he is survived by countless in-laws, nieces, nephews, good neighbors and close friends. We look forward to that joyful day when we are reunited as FAMILIES ARE FOREVER! Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 7, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. at Bill Eisenhower Funeral Home, 5005 S.E. 29th Street, Del City.Interment to follow at Arlington Gardens Cemetery with full military honors. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the doctors and nurses of Midwest City Regional Hospital for their loving care. Also, for the kindness shown by dear friends and neighbors, co-workers, and members of the Midwest City First Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
