Willis "Bo" Edsel Murphy

October 8, 1927 - January 13, 2017

Willis Edsel "Bo" Murphy, 89, entered through Heaven's gates on January 13, 2017 in Ponca City, OK. He was born on October 8, 1927 in Hess, OK to Benjamin Franklin and Fannie Mae (Wallace) Murphy.
After graduation from high school, Bo proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII. Five years after his discharge from the Navy, he married Geraldine (Riley) Murphy on September 30, 1951. They settled in Midwest City, OK, and raised three boys. After Geraldine's death, he married Flora Davis on February 9, 2002, and resided in Gilbert, Arizona, until 2012.
He was a resident of Via Christi Village in Ponca City, OK, at the time of his passing. Bo loved all sports, camping, water skiing, and he also enjoyed restoring antique furniture. Bo coached his son's baseball teams, was an avid runner, and always available to play "catch" with his boys. Later in his adult life he recognized his love for the Lord and personally accepted Him as his Lord and Savior. As a member of the First Christion Church in Midwest City, he became active in the Meals On Wheels program. His faith continued until his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 49 years, Geraldine (Riley) Murphy; siblings John Benson "JB" Murphy, Clara Mae Graves, and Omar Dale "Pat" Murphy. Survivors include his children, Randall E. Murphy and wife Alla, Eddie D. Murphy, Kyle D. Murphy and wife Carla; grandchildren, Emily Murphy, Dustin Kelman and wife Jessica; one great-grandchild Decklan Kelman.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Arlington Memory Gardens. Condolences may be offered at www.eisenhourfuneral.com, Dr. John Waterloo presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central Baptist Building Fund, 1732 East Coleman Road, Ponca City, OK 74604.
