Elva Ruth Morgan

Elva Ruth Morgan passed away June 14, 2007 at the age of 82. She was the daughter of Guy and Lillie McClellan, and was born on September 3, 1924, at their home in Strong City, Oklahoma. Ruth began attending the Strong City Grade School at the age of five years where she later graduated in 1942 as the valedictorian. On March 8, 1942, Ruth married her high school sweetheart Charles Orval Cofer. The couple provided a loving home for their five children, Lynda Carrol, Gary Charles, Sue Lynn, Kenneth Lee, and Brenda Kay. The family loved to vacation together and made many memories as they traveled to Washington, D.C., Yellowstone National Park, and Hawaii. Ruth was the first paid employee to work at the Capitol Credit Union in Oklahoma City. Ruth became the Manager there for 19 years where she met many wonderful people during her employment. After her husband of 37 years passed away, Ruth continued to travel as often as possible. She revisited Hawaii and vacationed in Egypt and Thailand. After living as a widow for 5 years, Ruth married John Hershel Morgan on March 19, 1984. Ruth and Hershel enjoyed vacations in Canada, Cabo San Lucas and Hawaii. They also stayed active by Square Dancing all over the state of Oklahoma. Ruth made many friends, and had many adventures with her family during her travels. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, and two loving husbands; brothers, Lavon, Roy, and Billy McClellan; two sisters, Nellie and Ruby; two daughters, Lynda Carrol and Sue Lynn Clabaugh; and son, Gary Charles Cofer. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Butz and her husband Steve of Blanchard, Oklahoma; son, Kenneth Lee Cofer of Sherman, Texas; six grandchildren, Adrianna Cook, Traci Michelle Willis, Charles Clabaugh, Kristi Nicole Jimenez, Stephanie Butz, Jeremy Butz; five great-grandchildren, Dameron and Shay Cook, Naomi and Tyler Willis and Noah Clabaugh. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on June 18, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Blanchard. Reverend Andy Finch will officiate with interment held at Arlington Memory Gardens, Oklahoma City. Arrangements made by Eisenhour Funeral Home, Blanchard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blanchard Senior Center or ALS Foundation.
