Freddie Glover Gunn

September 15, 1932 - May 22, 2020

Freddie Glover Gunn, 87, of Wellston, passed away on May 22, 2020. He was born on September 15, 1932 in Mount Pleasant Texas to James and Letha Gunn.
On April 20, 1957, Freddie married the love of his life Betty Thompson. They had a wonderful 63 year journey together. In those years, Freddie gained his greatest achievement, becoming a father to Betty Olmstead, Bobby Gunn, Janet Gamble, Freddy L. Gunn, and James Gunn. His children will always remember their dad’s storytelling, spending family time together, his woodwork and carpentry skills, his love of fishing, and that Grand Canyon Adventure.
Freddie spent 26 years in the Military; he was in the Army for the first 4 years and then spent 22 in the Air Force doing Helicopter Maintenance and Search and Rescue. Throughout his career, he received a lot of Military service awards and gained a loving military family. After his time in the Military, he then received his Masters from East Texas State and became a Teacher.
Freddie was preceded in death by his parents James and Letha Gunn and his siblings Eugene Gunn, Alfred Gunn, James Gunn, Bobby Gunn, and Oleta Metz.
Freddie survived by his wife Betty Gunn; his sister Lois Smith; his brother Dean Gunn; his children Betty Olmstead, Bobby Gunn, Janet Gamble and husband Greg Gamble, Freddy L. Gunn and wife Lisa Gunn, and James Gunn and wife Kristi Gunn; his 18 grandchildren including step grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 26th, 2020 from 4pm to 8 pm at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be Wednesday, May 27th, 2020 at 2pm at Arlington Memory Gardens.
