Carol Lynn Draper

September 3, 1946 - October 14, 2020

Carol Lynn Draper passed peacefully from this life on October 14, 2020. A native Oklahoman, she was born September 3, 1946 and raised in Oklahoma City as the beloved only child of Dixie and Robert Glass. She met and married W. Lynne Draper and was a loving wife and mother. After retiring early after many years at Southwestern Bell, she and her husband founded the Jim Thorpe Association. For many years, they worked out of a small room in their house with Carol maintaining the entire administrative side of the operation while Lynne focused on fundraising, promotion and outreach. Their home office endeavor later became a nationally known organization championing many youth-related community programs and sponsoring the Jim Thorpe award given annually to the best defensive running back in college football.
Following retirement from the Thorpe Organization, Carol enjoyed traveling, casinos and spending time with her family and spoiling some very lucky poodles. She gave selflessly to all she loved and was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother. The world is a much better place for her having been in it.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Surviving are 7 sons and 1 daughter: Dane (Shelley) Draper, Donald (Cinda) Draper, Earl (Kim) Draper, and Denise Draper all of Oklahoma City. Daniel (Penny) Draper of McKinney, TX, Dale (Tanya) Draper of Corinne, UT, David (Kathy) Draper of Wichita, KS and Doug Draper of Enid, OK. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 2pm at Arlington Memory Gardens.
