William "Bill" Derrick
September 22, 1915 - March 1, 2011
William Benaugh Derrick, of Midwest City, passed on from this life on March 1, 2011. Bill was born on the family farm in Okemah, OK, on September 22, 1915, to Ollie (Cooper) and George L Derrick. He married Pauline Estes on Nov 18, 1974. He worked for the WPA and served in WWII with the 45th Infantry and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star among others. He was a retired U.S. Postal Letter Carrier for the Midwest City downtown area. During his long and blessed life he enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden, bowling, fishing and camping with family and friends. His faith and his church family held a special place in his heart. His grandchildren were the joy of his life with who he shared a special bond and sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Luther, Pete, Newton and Jack, sister; Rachel and son William Edwin Derrick. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Pauline, sons Keith, and wife Freda, Kevin, and wife Terri all of Oklahoma City, stepdaughters Shari Fordham of Belton, MO, Elaine Broockerd, and husband Ron of Freeman, MO; grandchildren Karlye (Justin) Cowdin of Norman, OK, William (Shelly) Derrick of Edmond, OK, Kyle (Ariel) Derrick of Norman, OK, Gabriel (Kristi Curtis) Derrick of Irving, TX, Brad (Jennifer) Thomson of Raymore, MO, Michelle (Lance) Holbrook of Raymore, MO, Amy (Jeremy) DeGraeve of Kansas City, MO, and Shay (Giuliano Mingucci) Broockerd of Kansas City, MO; great grandchildren Adwen and Pelia Derrick of Norman, OK, Alexzis and Evan Thomson of Raymore, MO, Taylor and McKenzie Holbrook of Raymore, MO and Christopher Walton of Kansas City, MO.; niece, Freda Sallee, Plant City, FL, and nephew, Don Derrick (Sandy), Stroud, OK. He will be loved and missed by his family and many friends. We would like to thank the great staff at Wellington Parke Assisted Living for their love and support. Visitation with the family will be 6:30 to 8:00 pm, Friday at Bill Eisenhour Southeast. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sat., March 5, 2011, at Del City Church of Christ.
