Pauline E. Derrick

August 24, 1924 - September 28, 2014

Pauline Elizabeth Estes Derrick died on the Lord's Day, Sunday, September 28th, one month after celebrating her 90th birthday with her family.
Pauline was born on August 24, 1924, in Yukon, Oklahoma, to Charles F. Estes and Sarah Ellen Knight Estes Roberts. She lived most of her life in the Oklahoma City area, with short residences in the Kansas City area while her daughters were young and during the last three years of her life. She held various professional positions during her career, but her favorite was as a weights engineer at Aero Commander. She was honored late in life for her war work during WWII. Pauline played the guard position on her high school basketball team, which sparked her enduring passion for watching college and professional basketball. She also loved reading, fishing and camping trips with her husband and friends, and visiting with her fellow members of the Del City Church of Christ.
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Derrick, on March 1, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her step-father Bruce Roberts, her sister Ruth, and her step-son William Edwin Derrick. She also follows her beloved dogs Panda, Marcie and Pookie.
Pauline is survived by her children Shari Fordham of Belton, Missouri, Elaine and son-in-law Ron Broockerd of Freeman, Missouri, step-son Keith and wife Frieda Derrick of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and step-son Kevin and wife Terri Derrick of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her eight adoring grandchildren: Brad (Jennifer) Thomson of Raymore, Missouri, Michelle (Lance) Holbrook of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Amy (Jeremy) DeGraeve of Kansas City, Missouri, Shay Estes (Giuliano Mingucci) Broockerd of Kansas City, Missouri, Karlye (Justin) Cowdin of Norman, Oklahoma, William (Shelly) Derrick of Edmond, Oklahoma, Kyle (Ariel) Derrick of Norman, Oklahoma, and Gabriel (Kristi Curtis) Derrick of Irving, Texas. She will be missed by her great-grandchildren Alexzis (Tim Boos) Thomson of Peculiar, Missouri, Emily Harmon, Alden Harmon, and Evan Thomson of Raymore, Missouri, Taylor Holbrook and McKenzie Holbrook of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Christopher Walton of Overland Park, Kansas, Adwen Derrick and Pelia Derrick of Norman, Oklahoma, and Kayden Derrick of Edmond, Oklahoma. Pauline is also survived by her devoted companion Shih Tzu, Gracie.
The family would like to thank Pauline's tireless caregivers at Grand Court in Kansas City and her church family in Del City, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wayside Waifs Animal Shelter, 3901 Martha Truman Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64137, or Del City Church of Christ at the address below.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 2, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 5005 SE 29th Street, Del City, Oklahoma 73115. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 3, at 2:00 p.m. at the Del City Church of Christ, 1901 Vickie Drive, Del City, Oklahoma 73115, with burial immediately following at the plot next to her husband at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery at 3400 North Midwest Boulevard, Midwest City, Oklahoma 73141.
