Orpha Louella Davis

September 22, 1923 - December 31, 2013

Orpha Louella Davis (nee Mayhall) was born on September 22, 1923 in Canton, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Anna Billings and Edgar (Pete) Mayhall. She married Jack W Davis while he was serving in the United States Marine Corp in Corvallis, Oregon on November 24, 1943. Orpha was an active member of the political community in Midwest City all her life and, beginning in 1953 also served in the PTA while her children were in school. She served several years as a VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) volunteer and was an Oklahoma County Election Board member for decades. Orpha was the mother of six children; Jack William (Bill) Davis Jr. (deceased in 1989), Dr. Jeff Davis, Annette Davis, Dana Collins, Dina Wiedman and Dr. Kelly Davis. She is survived by her five children above-named, nine grandchildren: Shannon, Jad, Zak, Sean, Aaron, Jacob, Annie, Val and Axel, and ten great-grandchildren: Jacob, Abigail, Katelyn, Zoey, Bodie, Billie Grace, Lucy, Dayton, Adam and Elizabeth. She was a long time member of the Free Methodist Church of Midwest City and served on the Board of Directors of the Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City for many years. She leaves behind countless friends and memories. Interment will be at Arlington Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Free Methodist church of Midwest City.
