Lorene M. Cook

February 15, 1917 - May 7, 2008

Lorene M. Cook went to be with the Lord on the 7th of May, 2008. She was born Feb. 15th, 1917 in Ada, Oklahoma to Samuel Dixon McElroy and Ella Florida (Malone) McElroy. She grew up in Ada, graduating from Ada High School and attended East Central University in Ada. Lorene wed Loftus Athen Cook in 1937 and had 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She had 10 years of service with SW Bell Telephone and finished a long civil service career at Tinker AFB where she retired in 1978. She was deeply loved and admired by family and friends for her kindness, her devotion to loved ones and a quick wit. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and only sister. She is survived by children: Michael A. Cook of Ft. Worth, Texas, Sharon E. Walton of Orinda, California, Gary M. Cook of Norman, Oklahoma and Robert N. Cook of Anchorage, Alaska. Her family would like to thank the following special family members and friends for their loving care and support: niece, Juanita Simms; Larry & Linda McCreary; and Betty Coley. Memorials can be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society. Services will be 11:00 am, Monday, May 12, 2008 at Arlington Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
