Charles Henry Burkes

November 30, 1941 - July 21, 2013

Burkes Sr, Charles Henry 71, of Midwest City died July 21, 2013 at his home. He was born Nov. 30, 1941 in Siloam Spring, AR to Floyd and Lucy Mae Burkes. He retired from Tinker AFB as a Jet Engine Mechanic after 34 years of service. He loved to fish, hunt, golf, and work on cars out in his shop. He attended Soldier Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed filling boxes that were being sent to our military in Afghanistan. Family meant everything to Charles and he was the happiest when everyone was around him. He enjoyed spending time with his 8 grandkids and 3 great-grandkids. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son Charles Franklin Burkes, and 1 brother David Burkes. Charles is survived by his wife Patricia, of the home, daughter Tammie Foshee of Midwest City, son Danny Hood of Midwest City, daughter Dana Monroe and husband Karl of Midwest City, son Charles Burkes Jr. of North Carolina and daughter Karen Madewell of Florida. Patricia and family would like to extend a very special thank you to Crossroads Hospice for all their care, concern, loving, support and kindness to Charles. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home Chapel with interment following at Arlington Memory Gardens. Lunch will be served at Soldier Creek Baptist Church on SE 15th in Midwest City.
