Ronald Alvin Brakhage

October 6, 1948 - September 10, 2014

Ronald Alvin Brakhage, 65, passed away on September 10, 2014. Ron was born October 6, 1948, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Alvin Henry Amandus and Lilly Berniece (Koehn) Brakhage. He graduated from Enid High School in 1966 and received his undergraduate from Phillips University, also in Enid. Ron was drafted by the U.S. Army and served as a medic during Vietnam. Upon his return from the war, Ron decided to continue his education and received his Master’s from the University of Central Oklahoma.
During his life, he worked at Tinker A.F.B, owned a movie store that he operated alongside his wife, Donna, and most recently worked for the U.S. Postal Service with many wonderful friends. He enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden, taking vacations (especially Disney World), attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, and teaching Carson and Cooper how to fish. Ron’s love for his family was evident in all that he did, and he will most certainly be missed by all that knew him. Carson, Cooper, and Sam loved their grandpa very much, and they cherished every moment shared with him.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Donna; children, Jeffrey Daniel Brakhage and Ryan David Brakhage (Joni); grandchildren, Carson, Cooper, and Samantha Brakhage; siblings, Peggy Garren, Connie Easterly, Cathy Fuller (Steve), Donald Brakhage (Brenda); uncle, Howard Koehn; and aunts, Mildred and Ruby Koehn, and Wanda McPherren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2014 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 15, 2014, at the Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel. Military honors will follow at Arlington Memory Gardens. Condolences may be offered at www.eisenhourfuneral.com.
