Ted L. Barrett

December 20, 1931 - July 13, 2013

Mr. Ted L. Barrett, 81, formerly of Del City, Oklahoma, passed away a, Saturday, July 13th, 2013 at Talihina Veterans Center. Mr. Barrett was born in Waldron, Arkansas on December 20, 1931, the son of the late Virgil and Mildred (Self) Barrett. He served in the U.S. Army as a SP3 in the Korean War. Later he worked for the railroad until retirement. Ted had two daughters, Carla and Judy with his wife Dorothy. Ted was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy,daughter Carla and two brothers, Fred and Paul. Ted married Betty Stehr in 1990 and added Lene', Joe, Brandon and Julie to his family. Betty passed in 2011. Ted liked anything Blue-Sky, Shirts and Dallas Cowboys. He loved working crossword puzzles and spending time with Sally, the dog. In his last years he loved the VA's fruit punch and watching Westerns . The family wishes to thank the Veterans Center for the excellent care he received by Dr. Martin and the staff of the Special Needs Unit. Words cannot express our appreciation for they way they welcomed Ted into their family. They called him "Teddy Bear" and the kindness and caring they showed him was demonstrated from the day he arrived until he left his world. Those kindness will never be forgotten. Pallbearers for the service will be Judy Barrett, Adam Kozak, Lene' Gentry, Joe Stehr, Brandon Gentry and Julie Koffarnus. Honorary pall bearers, Fred Barrett and Paul Barrett Graveside services will be held at Arlington Memorial Gardens, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 19th with Lisa Nolen officiating. An Army Honor Team will be present for the flag ceremony. Interment will be under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.
