Billie Margy Amis
March 7, 1924 - April 22, 2013
Billie Margy Zellner Amis danced into Heaven on April 22, 2013 to join her husband, Robert S. "Bob" Amis, her husband of 46 years. Bob preceded her in death in 1989. Billie was born on March 7th, 1924 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Floyd and Lenna Zellner. She graduated from Dickson High School and moved to Oklahoma City where she met her loving husband, Bob, whom she married in 1944 after courting for only three weeks. Billie worked in the home and alongside her husband. She loved to read, cook, needlepoint, knit and crochet, play the piano, and shop for shoes. She played in a Bridge Club with her Midwest City friends for more than 35 years. She loved square dancing with the "Funtimers" and after Bob passed, she began ballroom dancing and won many awards. Dancing, walking, and healthy eating were her secrets to longevity. She and Bob also loved traveling with friends and grandchildren in their various motor homes. She was a long time member of Wickline United Methodist Church in Midwest City and later transferred her membership to Church of the Servant United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. Everyone loved to watch movies with "Grans" because of her infectious laugh. She loved having guests, and was always proud of her home. Billie is survived by her three daughters, Nonne Jane McCorkle, Sammy Lynn Bumpas, Monica Amis Wittrock, and two sons in law, Van Bumpas and Kevin Wittrock, all of Oklahoma City. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Leslie Dickey, Bryan Bumpas, Lori Burgin, Emily Ragan, Rob Wittrock, and Sarah Wittrock Moore. Her great grandchildren are Katie Dickey, Travis Dickey, Colton Bumpas, Brennan Bumpas, Connor Burgin, Savannah Burgin, Lizzy Ragan and Grace Ragan. Her sister Sue preceded her in death, but she is survived by her sister, Rebecca Fluitt and several nieces and nephews. Billie was cared for in her last years by Sherry Evans and family, her beloved caregiver's to whom Billie's family is grateful. Services are Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Church of the Servant. Interment will be at Arlington Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers may be made into the Church of the Servant Foundation of Oklahoma. Billie always made her guests feel welcome and the grandchildren always looked forward to a "sick day" with Grans. Her favorite line when her guests left was "I'm glad you got to see me."
