Emsley Verdane Akin

December 4, 1921 - July 5, 2007

Akin, Emsley Verdane (Lee), 85 of Okla. City died July 5,2007 in Midwest City Regional Hospital. Born Dec. 4, 1921 in Maud, Okla. to Daniel R. Akin and Earsy Akin. Lee Akin achieved a BS in Business from Okla. City University in 1952. He joined the Navy in WWII and was called up to serve in the Air Force during the Korean War. His career also covered the Vietnam War period. He retired from the Air Force in 1969 with full honors. In 1986, he retired from his position as the Deputy Director of the Okla. Civil Defense. He was a long time member of the 1st Baptist Church of MWC and a 50 year member of Midwest City Lodge #532 of A.F & AM. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his older sister Stella. He is survived by his wife Martie, son Daniel Akin, his two daughters, Jerrlyn Akin and Victoria Miller, his two brothers, Delbert and Leroy Akin, a granddaughter, Jennifer Lynch and a great-granddaughter, Hannah. Visitation will be held on Sun, July 8th and Mon, July 9th.,with formal visitation Mon. 6-8pm at Barnes and Johnson. Funeral service will be held on Tuesay, July 10th at 2:00 pm at 1st Baptist Church of MWC with burial at Arlington Memorial Cemetery.
