Gene Jacob Lehr Obit

Gene was born on February 2, 1938 to Odis and Opal (Jarvis) Walker. His mother's sister, Lena (Jarvis) and husband Pete Lehr adopted Gene at the age of four (4). He died (aged 67 years) on February 9, 2005 in Tucumcari New Mexico. Gene was a long time resident of Guthrie Oklahoma however he lived in Tucumcari New Mexico for the past five years.
Gene was married to Wilma Irene Jones, daughter of Mathew and Viola Jones of Guthrie Oklahoma on July 11, 1956. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a Life member of the V.F.W. and a member of the I.O.O.F. Gene retired from Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Services were held on Monday, February 14, 2005 at the Smith Memorial Chapel in Guthrie Oklahoma. Officiating the ceremony was the Reverend David Moore. He was buried in the IOOF Cemetery in Arcadia Oklahoma.
Pallbearers were Matt Burrows, John Wayne Lehr, James Cotton, Don Knittle, Justin Knittle, Richard Pryor, Jason Jones & George Ray.
Graveside ceremony included a 21 gun salute by Honor Guard of Guthrie VFW Lodge #4578. Honor Guard was Huston Mundell, Don Knittle, R.D. Morecraft, Joe Tripplett, Earl Hendon, Ron Powell , and Jason Jones. Steve Gula, buglar, played taps.
Presentation of the American Flag to Wilma I. Jones was by Houston Mundell of V.F.W. Lodge # 4578 of Guthrie Oklahoma.
Gene is survived by his wife, Wilma, of the home, five daughters; three of his own, Cindy Ray, Nancy Lehr, Toni Lehr, and two he called his own, Janet Knittle and Pam Cotton, one brother John Noah Lehr, a half brother Alan Roy Lehr, three half-sisters, Joyce "Walker" Smith, Betty Walker, and Carrole Lehr, three step-brothers, Forest Ray Walker, Ray Howard, Dale Howard, three step-sisters, Mary Lou Walker, Judy Brackett, and Sue Simons. Fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces' nephews and friends also survive him.
He was preceded in death by both his natural parents and adoptive parents Odis Walker, Opal (Jarvis) Walker, Pete Lehr, Lena (Jarvis) Lehr, one grand-daughter, Samantha Lehr, two half brothers and two half sisters, and one step-brother, Forest Ray Walker.
