Submitted by: Jeri Balmes

Willard Elmer (Doc) Lee
Born June 1, 1899
Passed away December 1, 1962
A 63-year-old man, Willard E. (Doc) Lee, Duncan route 4, was found dead at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday about one and one-half miles north and two miles east of Velma. He apparently died of a heart attack, officers said.
Lee was found in his pick-up truck by an oil field employee who discovered the vehicle by the side of the county road. Sheriff Eldon Head said the oil field worker noticed the windshield wipers of the truck were turned on and stopped to investigate.
Lee apparently ran off the road after the attack, Head said. There were no skid marks and the vehicle was only slightly damaged, the sheriff said.
Lee was born June 1, 1899, at Okemah. He moved to the Duncan area in December, 1949, from Pharoah, Oklahoma.
Lee was a Pumper for Champlain Oil and Refining Co. for 36 years. He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Buchanan Funeral Chapel, at Henryetta, Oklahoma. Brooks Funeral Home, Duncan, will direct.
