David Wayne Young, 71, of Vian, Oklahoma, passed away on December 28, 2012 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He was born September 25, 1941 in Vian, Oklahoma to A.C. “Clifton” Young and Ethel Evelyn Courtney Young. He graduated from Vian High School and attended Connors State College and Northeastern State University. He then served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a retired pipefitter and a member of Plumbers and Pipefitter’s Local 430 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Since he retired, he raised black angus cattle, spoiled grandchildren and spent time with friends. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #120 in Sallisaw, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. David married his wife, Jessie, of 44 years, on July 22, 1968.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie of the home; one daughter, Dr. Carla Young of Southlake, TX; one son and daughter in law, Lt. Billy Young and wife, Kimberly of Smithfield, VA; 6 grandchildren, David Young II, Jeremy Young, Daniel Lundstrom, Lilly Lundstrom, Jake Lundstrom and Dakota Patrick; two brothers and sisters in law, Thomas and Glenda Johnson Young of Vian, OK and A.C. Young, Jr. and Glenda Willoughby Young of Bunker Hill, West Virginia; and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Keith Young; one brother, William “Bill” Young; and two sisters, Bonnie Kvidera and Judy McHenry.
