Luverne Olaf Wrolstad, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away, Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at the Ponca City Medical Center. He was 78.
Luverne was born October 13, 1930 in North Dakota to Mabel Wrolstad. He received his early education in North Dakota. He loved playing basketball and football in high school. Luverne served in the United States Army for four years and was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado and also served in Germany. Luverne married Bernice Ribs on November 13, 1968 in Ponca City. He was employed as a construction worker. His hobbies included gardening and working crossword puzzles. He was a member of the Ponca Indian Baptist Church. Luverne was a good husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice, of the home; one son, Gregory Wrolstad of Wadford, North Dakota and one stepson, Cleveland Primeaux of Arizona; eleven grandchildren, Justin Ingram, Beulah Ingram, Sheree Ingram, Joel McBlair, Jubel McBlair, Michelle Primeaux, Anglique Primeaux, Joshava Primeaux, Matthew Primeaux, Sienna Primeaux and Amber Renfro and several nieces and nephews.
Luverne was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Robert Wrolstad and Wayne Wrolstad; 1 sister, Orla May; 1 son, Terry Dale Wrolstad and 1 step-son, Ronnie Joe Ingram.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday evening, February 28, 2009 at Ponca Indian Baptist Church with Doug Eagle presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
