Glennis Gayle "Mickey" (Green) Wright

Glennis Gayle "Mickey" (Green) Wright
August 19, 1938 ~ December 8, 2018

Glennis Gayle Green Wright ("Mickey") was born in Clinton, Oklahoma on August 19, 1938, and passed away December 8, 2018, after a short but devastating bout with cancer. Glennis lived her entire 80-years of life in the picture of health. Other than seasonal asthma she had no medical diagnoses, never took routine medications, never had a serious injury or underwent surgery. Until the onset of her recent illness, her only hospitalization was for the birth of her son.

As a devoted vegetarian, she lived a clean and healthy life. A life that was full of adventures of travel, that included living in another country. It was a life of exceptional creativity and a fierce love of animals, all animals, but especially of cats and horses. As a kid, she would rather be on the back of a horse than anywhere. Glennis was not a talker, but a listener and a brilliant thinker. She spent hours reading and had an insatiable desire to learn. She was an unbelievable artist. There wasn't a craft she didn't do, and she did them all exceptionally well. She also was an incredible seamstress. She had a keen eye for jewelry and learned to create her own pieces. Her greatest gifts were her paintings and her writings, as she loved to do both. There is no greater legacy to leave behind than wonderful oil paintings and heartfelt writings and poems.

Professionally she held a master's degree in education and for 14-years taught high school English in several different school systems, as she moved from one geographical area to another in the states of Texas and Oklahoma. She even taught English in Tehran, Iran where she lived for almost two years in the 1970s. Glennis' second career was in the florist business where for 21 years she was the Educational Director for American Floral Services, now Teleflora. Upon her retirement, she wrote articles professionally for a floral industry magazine. She and her husband Glenn's love of travel soon focused on cruises to just about all of the most popular geographical locations around the world. She has, in her lifetime, been around the world, twice. In the most recent years, she traveled with the Mustang Seniors Group and developed some very good friendships with some very good people.

Glennis was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Callie Green, grandson, Draven Wright and nephew, Myron Embree. She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Glenn Wright, her only son, Derek Wright, his wife, Keri, and grandchildren, Devan and Sydney Wright; sister, Janis Anderson and her husband Donnie; nieces and nephew; as well as a host of "traveling buddies." She is also survived by Beverly Botchlet and Joretta Warren, who became her final life travel guides, as she navigated the healthcare system during the last two months of her life. Family, friends, business associates and anyone else who knew Glennis was a blessed person.

A celebration of her life will be conducted by Glenda Stansbury on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Mercer Adams Funeral Service, 3925 Asbury Avenue, Bethany, Oklahoma.
