Helen Catherine (Strickler) Worthy
May 24, 1917 ~ Feb. 2, 2017

Helen Catherine Strickler Worthy claimed God’s promise on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, at the age of 99 years, 8 months, and 9 days. Her spirit departed peacefully leaving behind a legacy of love and an adoring family. She was born on May 24, 1917 in the Bray community south of Bokchito, Oklahoma. Her parents were Henry Clay and Ora (Albright) Strickler. On July 24, 1934, Helen married Bill Worthy. They were married for over 53 years living most of those years in Bokchito where they raised their son, and two daughters. 

Helen was a beautician for many years, beginning in 1946, then later worked with her husband in the family construction business until their retirement. However, her family’s care and well-being was her priority and joy, and she spent her life making their lives happy and anchored. 

Helen was a charter member of the Bokchito Church of Christ where she remained a cherished member. Her life will be celebrated there on Monday, February 6, at 10:00AM  with Graham McKay officiating. Serving as Pallbearers will be her grandsons. 

Mrs. Worthy is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Donna and Henry Ellis, Mary and John Frank of Durant; grandchildren Mark Worthy, Michael and Brooke Worthy and Bennett, and their mother, June Worthy Benson all MS; Brett Frank of OK; Alisa and Chris Dorman and Emma of CO, Riley Dorman of Moore, OK; Billy Ellis, Charley and Christi Ellis of Madill; Kourtney and Max Denkeler and Katherine and Hattie of Gilmer, TX. 

Preceding Mrs. Worthy in death are her parents Ora and Henry Strickler; Husband Bill Worthy; son John Henry Worthy; grandson Jay Worthy; sisters O’Rene Bryant, Minnie (Micki) Darrow, and Dora (Dodie) Ramey.
