Bill R. Works, 86, of Durant, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 22, 2016 in Durant.
He was born on September 17, 1929 to William T. and Veda Keeth Works in Snomac, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Brown's Funeral Service Chapel in Durant.
Pastor Darel Bunch will officiate. Cremation will follow and burial will take place at a later date. No formal visitation will be held.
The funeral home will remain open until 8:00 p.m. for viewing, and to sign the register book.
Bill graduated from Bakersfield High school in Bakersfield, California.
He joined the United States Navy right out of high school.
Bill recieved engineering degrees from Murray State College, and The University of Oklahoma. He worked as a Petroleum Engineer.
He married Leona Lauderdale on June 5, 1954 in the Sherman/Denison, Texas area. They were both natives of Bryan County, and they returned to their roots in 2004 from Bakersfield, California.
Bill loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and spending time with his cherished family.
He attended Calvary Baptist Church. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife Leona, of the home; son, Larry and wife, Gina of Nipomo, California; grandchildren, Olivia Works and Easton Works of Nipomo, California; brother, LeRoy Works of Marthasville, Missouri; sister-in-law, Shirley Works of Lebanon, Oregon; special dear friend, Ola Mae Moore of Durant; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Veda Works; one brother, Herb Works and daughter, Lisa Works.
