Bobbie Lee Work

December 19, 1937 ~ May 26, 2004

Bobbie was born December 19, 1937 to Edward and Rebecca Work in Quenton, OK. In 1939 the family moved to Lamont, CA. Bobbie attended Lamont grade schools and graduated from Arvin High in 1955.

After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force for a four-year term.

When he returned he met and married his loving wife of 43 years, Sylvia. Together they raised 4 children.

Bobbie worked for the Kern County Sheriff's Dept. for 12 years, most of those as a deputy in Lamont. He then became co-owner and operator of Bob's Auto Supply & Machine Shop. After 20 years he decided to sell the business, but continued to work in auto parts for 5 years

He served on the Lamont School Board and coached J.B.A. for a number of years. Bobbie was a strong supporter for our local schools and businesses. Upon retirement he was disgnosed with cancer, missing out on many plant, but for the last year and a half he enjoyed just hanging out with the gang at the Courtesty Drive-In, going to the Parts Store and being with his friends at The Newton Farm.. It was not unusual to see him just cruising around and looking at all the local fields of crops and talking to the farmers.

Bobbie was preceded in death by his parents, Rebecca and Edward Work.

Still here to celebrate his life are his loving wife, Sylvia; daughter, Sandra Watkins and husband, Melvin and their children, Taylor, Nicholas and Maiah; son, Kevin Work and his son, Kalyn; daughter, Kara Work and fiance', Byron Fillmore and her children, Kandice and Marcus Cerna; son, Kyle Work; sisters, Christine Sutton and her son, Jimmy Carille and family and Lahoma Miles and husband, James and their children, Andrea Medina and family and Terry Miles and family.

Pallbearers will be R.J. Work, Louis Mariner, Earl Armstrong, Jimmy Carlile, Melvin Watkins and Byron Fillmore.

Visitation will be held June 1st from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m., at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, June 2, at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary-Lamont.
