ack Woods, 71, passed away on May 3, 2022. On May 13, 2008, he had a major stroke leaving him in a wheelchair. He passed away at his home in rural Oklahoma due to cancer.

Jack was born on January 19, 1951, in Cushing, Oklahoma. He worked as a conductor for BNSF Railway for 39 years and 11 months before his stroke.

He married Mary Brown Woods on June 8, 1973. They had a son Jeff (Amy) Woods of Lone Tree, Iowa, and daughter Brandy (Jack) Sweeny of rural Maramec, Oklahoma.

Jack was very dedicated to his career with BNSF Railway. He was a wonderful dad and husband. His non-working hours were dedicated to spending time with his family. He loved visiting with people and he never met a stranger.

Jack went to Skedee and Cushing grade schools and Guthrie High School, graduating in 1970. In high school he was in ROTC. He was a member of United Transportation Union and Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He enjoyed working with kids in 4-H, FFA, and Boy Scouts. He raised cattle and swine. He was a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge 88 AF and AM of Newkirk, Oklahoma.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Robert S. and Iva Marie Woods; sisters, Prudie Seward and Vesta Harwell; brother, Fred W. Woods; and grandson, David Towles, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Jeff (Amy) Woods; daughter, Brandy (Jack) Sweeny; grandson, Nolan Woods; sister, Bobanna Sue Jones; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Roger Harwell, Jane Travis, Debbie and Frank Smith, Jerry and Tammy Brown, Darrin Brown; mother-in-law, Evelyn Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
