George Rodney Woods, 62, of Sterling, Kansas, died Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at his home. The son of Edward Joseph Woods and Irene Mary (LeBlanc) Woods, he was born June 24, 1953, in Dover, New Hampshire.
George graduated from Dover High School in Dover, New Hampshire. He then went on to earn a Bachelor�s Degree in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma. George was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was a member of Council Valley Baptist Church in Cushing, Oklahoma. He worked for many years as an editor for several different newspapers in various states before retiring in 2016. In his spare time, he loved watching baseball and listening to his collection of over 1000 records.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Billy Woods.
George is survived by one sister, Doris Myers and her husband, James, of Cushing, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
The family will hold a memorial service to honor George�s life at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Council Valley Baptist Church in Cushing, Oklahoma.
