Billie Rae (Beverly) Woodruff, of Norman, OK, passed from this life on January 19, 2021. Billie, daughter of Attly Allen and Ruby Lee (Nix) Beverly, was born July 20, 1926, in Bradley, OK. Billie graduated from Bradley schools and soon after married TM ‘Boe’ Woodruff, with whom she enjoyed an active life with for an incredible 75 years. They were blessed with two sons, Terry Don and Danny Wade, who were her greatest sources of pride. Billie and Boe lived in numerous towns early in their marriage before settling in for extended periods in Fairview, OK and Perryton, TX. In 1966, they moved to Woodward, OK where they lived for over 50 years, during which time Billie became a member of the First Baptist Church. For much of their retirement, they spent their winter months in south Texas where they could maintain their active lifestyles in warmer weather.
An avid golfer and dedicated bridge player, Billie never passed up an opportunity to connect with her friends. Billie was an avid writer, reliably keeping daily journals or writing poems, which her family will read and cherish forever. Her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, were perfect and could do no wrong in her eyes. She loved creating beautiful knitted and needlepoint pieces for her entire family. Her husband and grandchildren are adamant that no one can replicate her fried quail or chocolate pie, which she would happily make at a moment’s notice. She always had the fridge stocked with cold Coca-Cola for her guests, but mainly for her grandchildren. Billie loved traveling, and particularly relished the girl’s getaways she took with her sisters.
Billie is survived by her husband, TM ‘Boe’ Woodruff of Norman; son, Terry Woodruff and wife Beverly of Ecuador; son, DW Woodruff and wife Dolores of Woodward, OK; grandchildren, Staci Woodruff; Tyler Woodruff, wife Leigh and children Hayes, Miles, and Lorelei; Chase Woodruff, wife Megan and children Tatum and Wyatt; Paige Blackhurst, husband Evan and children Elle and Beckham; sister Lynda Soder and husband Robert of Tulsa, OK; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, JoAnn Rogers, Patrice Paul, Mary Nell Knapp and husband Bill; and brother, Johnny Marvin “Buddy” Beverly and wife Jackie.
No formal memorial service is planned due to COVID-19. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
