Linda Wood

Linda Wood
January 10, 1966 ~ April 4, 2022 (age 56)

Linda Wood was born January 10th, 1966, in Fort Riley, Kansas to SSG John “Jack” Wesley Wood (2005) and his wife Essie Mae Hutchins (1997). Although born in Kansas, Linda spent much of her formative years in Lawton, Oklahoma where she received her high school diploma from Eisenhower Senior High School.

Throughout her life, Linda was known for pushing herself to make a better life for her children, Jeremy Wood (35) and Brittany Rodriguez (33). This became a huge motivating factor for her to join the United States Navy and later to obtain a college degree.

Linda was sworn into the Navy in 1999 and was honorably retired at the rank of Petty Officer Third Class. After her retirement, Linda decided to pursue her college degree at Cameron University in criminal justice, becoming the first in her family to obtain a bachelor’s degree.

Linda made an honest living, provided well for her family, and continued to live a happy life.

Preceding her death were her parents John “Jack” Wood (2005) and Essie Mae Wood (1997)

Linda leaves behind to carry the torch and finish the race her loving siblings, Jacqueline L. Hannah 66, Gwendolyn D. Brooks 62, and her only brother Matthew H. Wood 58 . She also leaves behind her favorite nieces, Angel M. Williams (43), Christina M. Clayton (38), Latoyia N. Wood (37), Chauntelle R. Wood (35) her nephew, Tony Wood (24) and her great nephew Jalen M. Williams and great niece Janiya M. Williams. Next to her loving children, her pride and joy are her grandchildren whom she leaves behind, Kiara Wood, Raylond Wood, Raziyah Long, Jeramiah Wood, Kayvon Perkins, and Nyielle Payton.
