Arvin Truitt Wood was born on October 10th, 1944 in Richmond, California to Leon Douglas and Ruby Juanita Wood. After losing his parents at a young age, a special man named Richard Bonner took him in and offered his home to Arvin. Arvin then enlisted in the Army and served for 2 years until he was discharged and began the civilian life. He married the love of his life, Paula in 1981 and spent the next 30 years with her. Arvin resided in the Oklahoma City area until 1990, when he became a resident of the Greasy Community. Arvin loved the country life. Looking out his backdoor, seeing all of the deer, turkeys, and any other wildlife that may be seen, never got old to him.
Arvin had many trades that included a Volkswagen mechanic, carpenter, truck driver, and many more. If there was something to be fixed he found a way! If anything was broken, the grandkids knew where to take it to be fixed. We could also say he was a comedian! It was always his intent to get a laugh out of whoever may be around!
Arvin loved to fish! He was known to out-fish many of his friends and family and even told his son-in-law, Joshua, that he would never tell him, nor anyone else his secrets! If there was an early morning that you couldnt find him, it was guaranteed that he was already up and at one of his favorite fishing holes.
Family was Arvin's passion. He cherished every opportunity to spend time with his family. Anyone who knew him also knew all about the kids and grandkids. It was uncommon to see him out and about and not hear about what the grandkids were up to. If any of them had a track meet, program, ballgame, or birthday party, you could bet you would see Arvin there.
Arvin is survived by his sister: Rebecca Wood Smith; 4 children, Jeri Renae, Michael and wife-to-be Jennifer, Adrienne and husband BJ, and Julie and husband Joshua; 15 grandchildren, Joshua, Laura, Jerad, Malachi, Taylor, Aiden, Billy, Corbin, Gracie, Arayah, Trinity, King, Kaden, Traegen, and Kotton; 7 Great-grandchildren, Rylee, Cheyenne, Chante, Jacob, Brianna, Kylee, and Devynn and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Leon Wood, His brothers; Jimmy, Leon, Curtis (Coco), Gary, Roy Lee, Benny, and Glen and his sisters Gwen and Sandy.
Memorial services were held at 2 pm on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Greasy Community Building, Greasy, Oklahoma with B.J. Latta officiating.
