Marvin Lee Womack Jr., former resident of Ponca City, passed Friday, September 27, 2013 in the Fayetteville, Arkansas Veteran’s Hospital after a 3 month battle with cancer. He was 58 years of age.
Marvin was born June 11, 1955 in Ponca City, the son of Marvin Womack Sr. and Mary Ann (Davis) Womack. He received his education in the Ponca City Schools. He entered the United States Navy on July 26, 1972 and served as an aircraft mechanic. He was honorably discharged from the Navy on November 22, 1974. He was married to Pam Buttram on December 21, 1973 in Ponca City. The couple divorced in 1980 but remained lifelong friends. Marvin was employed as a general laborer throughout his years. His enjoyments were fishing and watching NASCAR.
He is survived by one sister, Theresa Womack Williams of Ponca City; one brother, Richard Allen Womack of Fayetteville, Arkansas; his ex-wife, Pam Buttram Parker of McKinney, Texas; two children, Cory Womack of Denton, Texas and Mamie Womack of McKinney, Texas; 7 grandchildren; 2 uncles, Curtis Davis of Bethany, Oklahoma and Arlis Eberle of Ponca City; 1 aunt, Mary Lou Womack of Oklahoma City; four nieces and nephews, Penny, Dustin, Jamie and Cody; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his paternal grandparents, Clifford Womack and Edith Womack Eberle; his maternal grandparents, John M. and Gelia Davis; and his brother-in-law, Gary Williams.
