Private services will be held at a later date for Paul Ray Wolfe, 84. Family viewing was held at 1 p.m., Sunday, September 20.
Born October 6, 1924 on a farm in Rains County, Texas near Emory, the son of Ora Pearl Campbell and H.W. Wolfe, he died Thursday, September 17, 2009 in Oklahoma City, peacefully with his wife and his dog, Rusty, by his side.
Mr. Wolfe enlisted in the military on December 21, 1945 and served two years in the Air Force and two years in the Army. His port of entry in service was Ondal, India. In the military, Mr. Wolfe served as a truck driver and attended Radio Operations Mechanic School at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. His military decorations include the American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon and World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Wolfe worked as a barber for 50 years. He loved sports, having played baseball while in the service. His greatest love was quail hunting. Mr. Wolfe was also a fisherman and a very good golfer.
Survivors include his brothers, Jim and Tom Wolfe of Gainesville, Texas, Frank Wolfe of Midland, Texas, Bill Wolfe of Marietta; a sister, Helen Rogers of Plainview, Texas; ex-wife, Freda R. Wolfe; and children, Jeanie Provost of Asheville, North Carolina, Jon Wolfe of Warr Acres, Leslie Morris, Gary Wolfe and Teresa Wolfe, all of Edmond, Craig Wolfe of Junction City, Kansas, and Traci Wolfe of Bethany; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his favorite hunting buddy, Dr. Tom Fraley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Merle Wolfe, Cotton Wolfe, Olen Wolfe, Wallace Wolfe and Travis Wolfe.
