Thank You For Your Service!

Michael Joe Wolf

Michael Joe Wolf
July 10, 1957 ~ August 8, 2020

Son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, dependable friend, veteran, firefighter….

just a few words to describe Michael Joe Wolf of Christie, born July 10, 1957 who departed this earth on August 8, 2020 in Springdale, AR.

Mike was a heck of a shot, a game slayer, a so-so fisherman, and once went to the corner market and ended up in Reno for 3 days. Anybody who knew Mike knows that he always

had that big smile on his face and would look you in the eye when he shook your hand.

Mike served in the Army from 1974-1976 as a rolling wheel mechanic with the 82nd airborne and assisted in training of green berets night fighting exercises. His fondest memory of his service was his boxing career, probably because he could fight and not get in trouble, where he held a 24-2 record. He was probably cheated on the 2 losses.

Mike was a 16+ year veteran of local volunteer fire departments. He was a member of the Christie- Proctor, Flint Ridge and Hwy 51 fire departments. Ranks and responsibilities were: Deputy chief, captain, chief medical 1st responder, swift water rescue and instructor, repelling, and wildland fire trained. He was there to help anyone at any time and enjoyed every minute of it.

Mike is preceded in death by his mother and father, Gaylord and Patsy Wolf, his big sis Kathy Akin, and his nephew Eric Akin.

Mike is survived by his wife of 43 years, Beverly of Christie, sister Teresa Arteaga of Stilwell, sister Valerie Pelayo of Vacaville, CA, and brother Timothy of Stilwell.

Mike had three sons and their spouses, Scott Valentic of Elkins, AR, David Wolf and wife Nancy of Westville , James Wolf and husband James Webster of Christie.

Mike had four grandchildren that all called him Papa and they could talk him into ANYTHING at ANYTIME! As all grandparents are, his happiest years were being a papa. Sydney, Ella, Maximus, and Sylvia Ann all have great memories of weekends, holidays, and summers on the farm with him. And of course, the candy, all of the chocolate and sour candies they wanted, but he had all of the black licorice and black jelly beans to himself.

We cannot mention Mike without talking about his dogs.

He is proceded in death by many 4-legged friends…Stormy, Lady, Man-Killer, and Burnt Muffin just to name a few.

He is survived by one of the ugliest rat dogs that you can imagine, Teen-Cee. She loved and will miss her papa just as much as any of us will.

Mike's favorite time of year was the Christmas holidays. He enjoyed spoiling his boys when they were younger with loud toys and things that go bang. He showered his grandkids with the same loud toys, probably to aggravate his sons when they had to take them home. Mike really enjoyed receiving hand crafted gifts from his grandkids and showed them off to everyone with that same great smile.

Mike will be missed by all and there will be a small gathering of friends and family to celebrate his life.
