Zora Alice Jett Wirz joined her Heavenly Father on Saturday, July 18, 2020. She passed peacefully in the night at her longtime home in Midwest City, Oklahoma.
Zora Alice was born November 29, 1924 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma to John M. & Alice Crouch Jett. She was one of five children with two brothers (James and Dale) and two sisters (Evelyn and Lorene). She grew up in Tecumseh/Shawnee, Oklahoma during the Great Depression and graduated right before the start of WWII.
She had two children with Odell Cooper, Patricia Lynn and David Alan. Both grew up, graduated from high school and both received their college diplomas. David went on to accomplish his Doctoral Degree in Pharmacy. Eventually, both made their way to Texas and raised families of their own. Trish married Jerry Keisler and had one daughter, Judy. David married Sylvia Cardenas and had three children, Benjamin, Scott, and Rachel.
Zora’s life was dedicated to serving God and showing his love by the giving of herself to help any and all who crossed her path. Her family was the recipient of her love and sharing, as were friends, neighbors, and many others in need. On one occasion, she organized her neighbors to provide meals for several days to a new mother of triplets in the area. This small act of kindness is one of so many Zora performed over the years that helped to better the lives of those around her.
She was known for her beautiful flowers and garden from which she grew and shared with many friends. She had an impressive fruit and vegetable garden in her backyard, which she kept up with for many years. She spent lots of time there teaching her children and grandchildren the fruits of hard work. Some of her family's fondest memories were hearing her stories about the antics of her and her siblings from their childhood growing up on the farm.
She loved being involved with children’s church and created many skits and songs for puppet shows. There was always a soft spot in her heart for children. She never knew a stranger and could carry on a conversation with just about anyone. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and swimming. She would win several Gold medals at the Senior Games in her 80’s and her quick wit, smile and laughter were contagious and will certainly be missed.
Zora had a kind heart and lived each of her 95 years on this earth to the absolute fullest. Her family mourns for her passing, but also enthusiastically celebrates her life and the legacy she leaves behind.
Due to current COVID protocols, guests are encouraged to wear protective masks at all times while inside the funeral home and practice the recommended six foot social distancing.
