Robert Jacky Winters

Robert Jacky Winters
February 15, 1937 ~ April 21, 2017

Jack, was born on February 15, 1937 as Robert Jacky Winters to Naomi and Clyde Winters in Blair, Oklahoma, and grew up picking cotton, working on cars, and playing baseball until he received a baseball scholarship to Oklahoma State University. After two semesters, he decided to enlist in the United States Army and served as both an enlisted man and then as an officer specializing in military equipment maintenance and code interception during the Vietnam War, where he earned two Bronze Medals. While stationed in the United Kingdom and bartending at the officer's club, he met Marion at age 18; they would later meet again upon his return to the United Kingdom and were married in 1962, having one daughter, Laura. After twenty years in the service, Jack retired as an Army Captain and was then invited by his brothers, Danny and Bryan, to work in Sonic Drive-Ins in Danville, Kentucky, and later with Danny Winters and Marvin Jirous at M&D Industries as a franchisee in Oklahoma, where he worked until his death.

Jack survived enemy explosives in his Vietnam barracks, a stroke at age 64, colon cancer at age 74, skin cancer, and most recently reparative surgery for an aneurysm, dying from complications on April 21, 2017.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, his youngest brother Bryan, his two nieces, Susan and Beth, and is survived by Marion, Laura, his two beloved grandsons, Spencer and Ryan, and his two brothers, Danny and Lillard, as well as beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and colleagues.

For all who knew him, you knew his love of a good (and bad) joke, his honesty, wit, and intelligence, and his love for you. He is now at peace telling jokes with Bryan and Susan, listening to Elvis, and discovering who really shot JFK.
