Nancy Jean Winters, a resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma surrounded by her family joined her heavenly father on June 30, 2016 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born in 1950 in Springfield, Massachusetts, to Thornton and Constance Beecher, Nancy received her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Arkansas in 1972.
She taught junior high English at Christ the King and then Ramsey Junior High in Ft. Smith until 1978 when she met the love of her life. Nancy married Richard Winters on June 17, 1978 at the home of her parents Thornton and Constance Beecher in Ft. Smith, Arkansas.
She was the loving mother of three children Matthew, Jennifer and Jessica and called Russellville, Arkansas home for over twenty years. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren and her beloved dog Buddy as well as many hobbies including painting, ceramics, reading and writing. She loved shopping and buying "happy day" gifts for everyone with whom she came in contact. She will be remembered for her smile, kindness and her faith in God.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents Thornton Douglas Beecher and Bertha Constance Borecki Beecher and her brother Butchie Beecher.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years Richard Lee Winters; Matthew Richard Winters (son), Karla Winters (daughter-in-law), Daphne Grace Winters (granddaughter); Jennifer Landers (daughter), Andrew Landers (son-in-law), Bentley Landers (grandson); Jessica Bradford (daughter), Clay Bradford (son-in-law), Adilynne Bradford (granddaughter); Joyce Taylor (sister), Joe Taylor (brother-in-law); Gloria Standifird (sister), Ed Standifird (brother-in- law); and Susan Miller (sister).
There will be a viewing from 2 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Stumpff Funeral Home and Crematory; 1600 Southeast Washington Boulevard; Bartlesville, OK 74006.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Community Church; 5210 SE Washington Boulevard; Bartlesville, OK 74006 at 10 am on Thursday, July 7, 2016.
This will be followed by a graveside service at 3:30 pm at Pinnacle Gardens; 5930 W. Wallis Rd.; Rogers, AR 72756 under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to the American Cancer Society.
