ENID, Okla. - Rosalind was born Dec. 8, 1948, in Mt. Vernon, Ill., to Charles and Mildred Branch and passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014.
Her father worked in the oil business, so they followed him, living in Aztec, N.M., before settling in Enid, Okla., where she graduated from Enid High School in 1966.
At that point she became dedicated to health and science in the medical field. She worked as a nursing assistant for Dr. Elaine Davis in Enid until furthering her education at O.T. Autry Tech Center in Enid, where she graduated with a licensed practical nurse degree.
Upon moving to Oklahoma City, she began working at Mercy Health Center. While working there, she pursued a bachelor of science degree in nursing, graduating from UCO in 1989.
While working at the hospital, she assumed a multifaceted role, performing nursing care initiatives. She was known for her empathy, excellent communication skills and total patient care, receiving numerous accolades for her efforts. She developed an excellent rapport with coworkers, which translated into a harmonious relationship with nurses as well as doctors. Among her roles was being a preceptor and mentor for new nurses. She worked as a case manager as a liaison between health care facilities and insurance companies. She also worked on the medical/surgical unit, making observations and recognizing potential problems in patient health. Other accomplishments include Who�s Who in American Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau honor society of nursing, NAACOG member, CPR and BSE certified, and was a member of the American Nurses Association.
When she was not working, she was an avid gardener, loved spinning fibers into thread and collecting linens.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Larry of the home; three sisters, Jennefer Branch of Enid, Shannon Shock and husband Clifford of Katy, Texas, and Diane Hammond and husband Roosevelt of Kansas City, Mo.; and her treasures, her four nieces and nephews, Catherine, Austin, John and Angie.
Visitation with the family will be held at Smith & Kernke from 5-8 p.m. today, July 1, 2014. A memorial service is 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at Smith & Kernke Chapel, Oklahoma City.
