Ervin C Winkel
February 18, 1930 ~ November 11, 2010 (age 80)

Ervin C Winkel, 80, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2010 in Norman, OK.  He was born February 18, 1930 in
Milwaukee, WI to William and Frances (Pozorski) Winkel.

Ervin served his country in the United States Army as a squad leader and gunner with a 60MM mortor unit the "Wolfhounds" whose job was to put in mortor concentrations during the Korean war. He received the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Medal, and a Combat Infantry Badge.

His career with the City of Milwaukee began in 1953 with the Forestry Department, before joining the Fire Department in 1956. After 36 years of service, he retired in 1992 with the rank of Captain.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth; daughter Ginger; sisters, Irene Gerlinski and Alice Chapman.

He is survived by his son, Michael and wife Kristine of Norman, OK; beloved nieces and nephews, Jay Thresher and wife Kathy of Menomonee Falls, WI, David Simons of Greenfield, WI, Valerie Schoen and husband Pat of Brookfield, WI, Cheryl Loeschmann-Chapman of Milwaukee, WI and Larry Gerlinski of Evergreen, CO.

Ervin requsted no services.  In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 NW 9th Ave. Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136.
