ENID - A gathering of family and friends for Floyd E. Winfield will be 5-7 p.m. today, Oct. 6, 2011, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. At his request, Floyd was cremated.
Floyd Eldon Winfield was born June 10, 1926, in Salt Fork, Okla., to Lee and Gertrude (Stockwell) Winfield and passed away Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, at Enid Senior Care.
He left the Enid class of 1945 to join the Navy in 1944. After the end of WWII and two years of service, he returned to Enid High School. After graduating in 1947, he left behind football records that keep him in the current Plainsman football program.
Floyd married Julia "Judy" Marie Johndrow on June 9, 1948. They were partners in life for over 60 years.
Floyd was a highly recruited football player, choosing Oklahoma University before transferring to the University of Houston, where he starred in football and baseball. While at Houston, he coached football two years at St. Vincent DePaul Jr. High. After hurting his shoulder playing football, he transferred to Phillips University to finish college. After graduation he coached football, baseball and track at Emerson Jr. High from 1952-1959. Then he moved up to Enid High School, coaching the J.V. Sophmore Highlanders football until 1975. He also coached baseball and golf. He taught drivers education from 1959 until his retirement in 1987. He taught many to drive, leaving them with their unforgettable stories too. He touched numerous lives, and was a great influence on his many players and students.
Floyd was a caring, kind, man and great husband, father, coach and athlete, who will be forever missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; his parents; brothers, Virgil and Roy Winfield; and sister, Gladys Durham.
He is survived by four children, Carol Lohse and husband Randy of Kingfisher, Floyd E. Winfield Jr. and wife Christy, Nancy Olmstead and husband T.A., Becky Potts and husband Rick, all of Enid; three grandchildren, John Lohse of Kingfisher, Wendy Frazee and husband Josh of Enid and Jamaica Szeliga and husband Keith of Great Falls, Va.; five great-grandchildren, Connor and Caislin Lohse, Cameron Arrington and Elijah and Kylee Frazee; and one sister, Deane Eck.

ENID - Julia "Judy" Marie Winfield was born Jan. 25, 1929, in Trinidad, Colo., to Phillip and Julia Elizabeth (Bacon) Johndrow, and passed away March 14, 2009, surrounded by her loving family.
She graduated from Enid High School in 1947 and married Floyd Winfield on June 9, 1948. They recently had celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage.
Judy was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority for over 50 years. She worked at Davis Abstract as an abstracter and Northern Equipment as a bookkeeper. Being a seamstress most of her life came natural to her since she was so imaginative. Her creativity produced many amazing things, she even held her own craft shows. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be forever missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Wayne Johndrow and Bud Johndrow; and two sisters, Olla Huston and Lorraine Flaming.
Judy is survived by her husband, Floyd, of the home; four children, Carol Lohse and husband Randy of Kingfisher, Floyd E. Winfield Jr. and wife Christy, Nancy Olmstead and husband T.A., Becky Potts and husband Rick, all of Enid; three grandchildren, John Lohse and wife Keisha of Kingfisher, Wendy Arrington and fiance Josh Frazee of Enid, Jamaica Szeliga and husband Keith of Great Falls, Va.; and five great-grandchildren, Connor and Caislin Lohse, Cameron Arrington and Elijah and Kylee Frazee.
A gathering of family and friends will be 9:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel.
At her request, Judy was cremated. Arrangements are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
