Norma Jean Wimmer , 88, of Great Falls, MT, passed away Friday, August 12, 2016. Norma was born in Fort Scott, KS on May 20, 1928. She attended school through Jr. College in Fort Scott and completed her Bachelors in Home Economics at Kansas State University in May 1949.
Norma married Donn Wimmer in June 1949. After teaching for two years, she and Donn moved to Bartlesville, OK. She was a member of Bartlesville First Presbyterian Church, where she served as an Elder, Deacon, taught Sunday School, and was active in Presbyterian Women. In 2002, after 50 years in Bartlesville, Norma and Donn moved to Great Falls, MT to be closer to family, where they joined Sunrise Presbyterian Church.
Norma valued relationships, beginning with her relationship with God. She saw potential in everyone and lived with the goal of sharing God's abundance with all. She did that one person at a time with nurturing, guidance and prayers.
Norma is survived by daughters, Nancy (Bob) Maynard of Great Falls, MT; Carol (Jack) Coats of Ashland City, TN; son, David (Jan) Wimmer of Columbus, MS; and grandchildren Jessica (Kris) Mullinax of Biloxi, MS; Amanda (Walter) Carpenter of Sumrall, MS; Bonnie (Will) Bray Olive of Branch, MS; Kate (Cory) Kalanick of Denver, CO; Stacy Maynard of Vancouver, British Columbia; Andrew (Susan) Coats of Somerville, MA and Ruth Coats of Clarksville, TN; and eight great grandchildren.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Donn Braden Wimmer and sister Patty Lou Dunwoody; and one niece.
A Celebration of Life was held for Norma at Sunrise Presbyterian Church, 3809 6th Ave. S, Great Falls, MT 59405.
Memorials may be made in Norma's name to Sunrise Presbyterian Church.
