The services celebrating and honoring the life of Rita Wilson, 73, formerly of Canton, will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday February 11, 2022 in the First Baptist Church, Canton, Oklahoma. Complete cremation care and services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Rita was born July 18, 1948, in Denton, TX to Jess and Jewel (Burns) Lawson and passed from this life February 3, 2022 at her home in Enid, Oklahoma.

She was raised and educated in Miami, Texas and attended Miami High School. In 1964 she married Roy Wilson in Miami, Texas where the couple began their family. The family moved to Cody Wyoming where she helped her husband working on a cattle ranch for four years. The family then moved to Canadian, Texas where she began working at the local grocer and learned to be a butcher. In 1978 the family moved to Canton, Oklahoma where she was the local butcher at Sav- Mor Foods for twenty years. She also managed a local eatery and bar for twenty-five years. She retired in 2021 when she was medically unable to continue working. She enjoyed cooking, garage sales, gardening, reading, taking care of her cat, Junebug, and she loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter Melissa Schlup and husband Bill of Enid, son Trey Wilson of Portsmouth VA, grandchildren Chris Wilson and wife Jessie of Elk City, Jessica Fuksa and husband Ryan of Fairview, Zackery Kehn of Enid and Tyler Kehn of Bryn Mawr PA, her great grandchildren Ethan, Seth, and Adalyn of Elk City and Rosalee of Fairview, One brother-in-law, Harold Greenhouse, her neices and nephews, and many great neices and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Jewel Lawson and sisters, Patsy Minick and Belva Greenhouse.
