James Donald Wilson

James Donald Wilson

Donald Wilson went to be with his Lord on December 10, 2013 following an extended illness. He was born on October 28, 1927, in Oklahoma City, to Albert Henry and Bessie (Ferguson) Wilson.

He was raised in Claremore, OK and left high school in 1943 to serve in the United States Navy during World War II. He served for two years on a Navy Transport ship then moved to the USS Boxer Aircraft Carrier from 1947-1950. With the electrical training he received in the Navy, he started Wilson Electric in 1950 and served the Bartlesville area for the next 30 years. He was active in the Sertoma Club and was a member of the Elks Club. After his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling all across the United States. In his later years, he was very active on the Baptist Retirement Village Campus Life Team where he served as Chairman and several other official positions. He also served on the Projects Committee where he made contributions by setting up and serving on the committee that helped build the addition of a Recreation Room for the Baptist Retirement Village. He also provided transportation for the residents by being on call to deliver them to and pick up from doctor appointments and to run errands. He was the last living WW II veteran of his family. He was a kind and generous man with a dry sense of humor who loved his family deeply and who was always willing to lend a hand.

He was proceeded in death by his brothers, Preston and Allen and sister, Leona Kellum and his first wife, Lowell and by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of the home, his daughter, Becky Perry and his son, Donald A. Wilson, step-children; Jeanette Leaton Madison, DeAnna Leaton Kahre, Debbie Leaton Herod, and Stephen (Steve) Leaton, Jr., twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends.
