Wilson, Ethel Darlene, 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Ethel was born July 11, 1931 in Buffalo, Kansas to parents Roger and Mary Alice (Cole) Newton. She was a Caney High School graduate in the Class of 1949. On May 8, 1949 Ethel married Rodrick Wilson in the First Christian Church of Sedan, Kansas. In 1958 the couple moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Roderick and Ethel were members of the East Bartlesville Christian Church and were active in the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class. Ethel was someone that was always on the go. She loved staying active.
She and Rodrick liked to go Square Dancing, which they did up until just a few years ago. Ethel was an excellent seamstress. Ethel enjoyed playing cards, she loved horses, watching women's softball, and traveling. Though Ethel enjoyed many activities and interests, the most important thing for her was always her family. She was a devoted wife to Rodrick for over 67 years. Ethel also had a special relationship with her mother- in -law, Inez Wilson, and she loved going to visit her in Sedan, Kansas.
She was a wonderful homemaker, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and role model to all her family.
Ethel is survived by her husband Rodrick Wilson of the home; daughters Gwen Owen, husband Don of Bartlesville, Pam Wilson of Bartlesville and Debbie Young, husband Mike of Dewey; grandchildren Dustin Owen(Heather) of Owasso, Chris Owen (Alicia) of Newkirk, Aaron Estes (Tabitha) of Tahlequah, Dell Estes of Bartlesville, April Kidwell(Joe) of Owasso, Mikah Sanders (Cody) of Copan and Tarrah Kelly of Grove.; 16 great-grandchildren, sister Dorothy Haines of Bartlesville and brother Clarence Newton of Yates Center, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and one brother.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 am, Monday, November 7, 2016 at the East Bartlesville Christian Church. Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan, Kansas.
The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel.
