Walter "Walt" Williams was born November 11, 1939 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Helen and Claude Williams. He passed away September 8, 2014 at his home in Elk City at the age of 74 years, 9 months and 27 days.
Walt grew up in the Highway Community east of Carter and later moved with his family to San Bernardino, California and graduated from Pacific High School in 1958. After graduation, he furthered his education at a junior college all while having a family and working. Walt later obtained employment with the state of California as a land surveyor and also worked for Associated Engineers and was self employed for a number of years. In 1997, Walt moved to Oklahoma City where he continued to survey for Hills Surveying and later Red Plains Surveying Company.
He was married to Janice Helen (Hill) Williams at Eureka Springs, Arkansas on March 7, 1998. They made their home in Oklahoma City and moved to Carter in 2005 and later to Elk City in 2013. Walt enjoyed golfing, deep sea fishing and spending time with family and friends. He was deeply loved by family and friends and will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 granddaughter, Nicole Brem; 2 brothers, Joe and James Williams; 1 sister, Vera Sewell and one nephew, Michael Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Janice, of the home; 4 daughters, Becky Sublett and husband, David, Fontana, CA, Mary Tillen and husband, Guy, Yucpia, CA, Karyn Williams, Victorville, CA, Beth Hantz and husband, Tim, Highland, CA; 1 son, Sam Williams and wife, Brenda, Trabuco Canyon, CA; 2 step sons, Shawn Williams, Irvine, CA, Ryan Williams and wife, Lisa, Mentone, CA; 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 1 sister, Ann Beach and husband, Dusty, Grand Terrace, CA; 4 brothers, Claude "Jr." Williams and wife, E.J., Huntsville, TX, Benny Williams and wife, Carol, Hesperia, CA, Bynum Williams and wife, Deva, Ehrenberg, AZ, Jerry Williams and wife, Charlette, Redlands, CA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
