Iris June (Beck) Williams

Iris June (Beck) Williams
June 15, 1937 ~ June 9, 2025

Iris June (Beck) Williams was born to Charlie and May(Golden) Beck at her family farm in Chautauqua County Ks., June 15, 1937. She was the 8th of 9 children. It was flooding and doctor had trouble getting there, so her father delivered her, and her oldest sister, RosaNell washed and dressed her.

Iris got her first years of education in a one room country school. After moving to Independence, Iris had many different jobs as live in nanny, waiting tables, and nurse aid at Mercy Hospital. She met her future husband, Eddie, while working at Corner Drug Store in Sedan, KS. Iris and William E. Williams "Eddie" were married at the United Methodist Church in Independence, KS April 8, 1954 by Reverend Prince. They were married 67 years and to that union was born three children, Gayla Sue (Williams) Pruett, Donald Earl Williams and Kyle Edgar Williams.

In 1974 Eddie & Iris bought Wilbert Underground Vaults from his father Earl Williams. Together they ran the business until 1996. Eddie retired and Iris and sons Don & Kyle ran the business until 1999 when it was sold to Wilbert Vaults of Kansas City, MO. They then retired to their farm.

Iris loved to dance and after teaching Eddie how to dance they went to many dances. They took ballroom, round dance & Square Dance lessons. Eddie joined Eastern Star with Iris, and with Eastern Star, square dancing, their farm and grandchildren, life was busy and happy.

After the passing of Eddie, Iris went to live with her daughter and son-in-law in Catoosa where She lived until her passing.

Iris is preceded in death by her brothers; Henry Beck, Ben Beck, and Nine Beck, sisters: Rose Nell Barton, Lillie Moore, Violet Muller, and Barbara Koger.

Iris is survived by her children; Gayla (David) Pruett, Donald (Michelle) Williams, Kyle Williams, Grandchildren; Wanda Raisley, William (Joni) Pruett, Ben (Tasha) Pruett, Chris Williams, Samuel Williams, Great- Grandchildren; Madelaine Raisley, Lillian Raisley, Toby Pruett, Zack Pruett, Jeni Pruett, Ava Pruett, Katie Pruett, Jaxson Pruett, Rosa Williams, Sammy Williams, Danny Williams, Iris Williams, and Ivy Williams.
